Prepare for your Journaling

Hearing God’s voice is one incredible, powerful, and transformative experience we will ever encounter.

So let me start by saying, God is a spirit, and to have a relationship with Him, He created us to be spiritual beings as well,  which allows us to have a real deep connection. Therefore, having an understanding of this truth will help us to hear His voice more clearly.

I’ve prepared here, five ways to hear from God, and recognize His voice on a regular basis:

  1. Create a space that you will visit regularly, especially for God to speak to you. Allowing yourself to become still, spend time in silence and solitude with expectations to hear from God.
  2. Pray and ask God to speak to you. Be open to how He chooses to communicate.
  3. Study and meditate on the Bible. God speaks to and shows you things through His word. Spending time in Scripture can help you recognize His voice more clearly.
  4. Keep Record. Journaling is a powerful tool it will assist you in recording life’s lessons, keeping track of God’s plan, and aid you in discerning the voice of the Holy Spirit.
  5. Write down your thoughts and impressions as you listen to God’s voice. Journaling will help you to process and remember what you’ve heard.

Let’s Start Journaling

Alright, grab a pin and paper, and let’s get started. First of all, you are going to write down the day, date, and time in your journal. By keeping this record, you are going to keep track of valuable insight into the patterns, thoughts, and knowledge that God is going to reveal to you.

Secondly, get ready to go on a divine journey as you begin to pray. In other words -Take Yourself There. Use your imagination while praying and envision God sitting on His throne in heaven and Jesus sitting on His right side. Imagine seeing this brilliant green bright light radiating from their presence. Now! Began to pour out your heart to them. Tell them how great they are and how much you appreciate everything that they have done for you.

As you continue to pray, trust and believe that God wants to speak to you, and He will make His voice known to you. Have faith and stay open to how He may want to communicate to you. It might be:

  • Through a spontaneous thought.
  • With an impression (an overwhelming feeling about something or someone).
  • Through a bible verse in Scripture.
  • Through an image.

Thirdly, once you believe you’re hearing His voice, stop talking, and immediately write down your spontaneous thought, bible verse, or impression as you hear Him speak. The voice you will hear won’t sound like any voice other than your own. And it will be talking very FAST.

While you’re writing:

  • Stay focused on listening and writing down what you hear.
  • Don’t pause to think about what’s being said.
  • Don’t try to correct any spelling or grammar to what you are hearing at the time. You can go back and make corrections once He stops talking.

Activate Your Spiritual Gift Through Journaling

Now let’s get into how journaling can help you activate your spiritual gift. Once you learn how to hear the voice of God through journaling, activating your spiritual gifts will be like having a second nature. For example, you’re in the grocery store and you just so happened to notice the expression on a lady’s face as if though she was troubled by something. Because of journaling your confidence has shot up to another level. You’ve been training yourself how to quiet and yield your spirit to the Holy Spirit. You’ve developed an ear to recognize God’s voice from the voice coming from your own thoughts. And now! It’s time to put it all into action and pray for someone. So, being moved with compassion you walk over and ask if she wouldn’t mind if you could pray for her. Journaling together with your spiritual gift makes you more efficient and accurate when you are revealed something, are saying something, or are doing something (activation) as you flow with the Holy Spirit and his direction.

Final thought

Don’t get discouraged if you don’t hear God’s voice right away, keep seeking Him with an open heart. Because It’s going to happen!

Keep practicing these four things:

  1. Stillness: Quiet yourself so you can hear God’s voice.
  2. Vision: Look for vision as you pray.
  3. Spontaneity: Recognize God’s voice as spontaneous thoughts that light upon your mind.
  4. Journaling: Write down the flow of thoughts and pictures.
